Tristan Harris, co-founder of Centre for Humane Technology talks at Norrsken, Stockholm, Sweden.
Mindtemp spent the evening Norrsken, listening to Tristan Harris. Tristan is maybe most known for the film #TheSocialDilemma , but he is also a former Google design ethicist and co-founder of Centre for Humane Technology, among many other achievements.
It’s a very gloomy future he paints. But as he says,
there is NO alternative to change.
The dopamine*-producing effect of social media, where Tictok is the current winner and us, the society, the BIG loser. But most of all, all the kids out there.
If you haven´t seen the social dilemma, please do.
And yes, we do believe Mindtemp is part of the solution. Mindtemp helps us increase self-awareness, reduce stress, and thus be more thoughtful about our choices.
Here is the introduction to Centre for Humane Technology: “This new future will require greater collective understanding of the root causes driving extractive systems. It will require deeper empathy for the range of individual experiences with persuasive technology. It will require open minds to connect the dots and develop creative solutions. And it will require all our unique contributions.”
*Dopamine can be addictive, as we see people “hocked on” TikTok etc. And we also see a much higher suicide rate and depression, with “dopamine junkies”, such a mountain climbers.
